Following the success of Avia Ba.122, other variants were developed. The B-222.1 was flown in August 1937. The machine was powered by a nine-cylinder Rk-17 which was covered by an aerodynamic cover NACA, and the wheels were hooded.

The plane flew in white and red, without matriculation. The Avia factory participated with him in the 3rd national flight of the RČS and the 2nd national aerial competition in acrobatics. Avia used it mainly as a demonstration. After the occupation of Czechoslovakia, the B-222.1 was sold to Bulgaria in 1939. The second 222 marked B-222 item no. 1 was created in Avia. with similar coloring and marking OK-AVB.
