The Do 17 M-1 version was a medium bomber that carried up to 1,000 kg of bombs and was powered by Bramo 323 A engines. It was armed with two and later three MG 15 machine guns. It could carry a load consisting of 20 SC 50 bombs or two SC 250 500 kg bombs or 10 SC 50 bombs and one SC 250. The aircraft reached a speed of 420 km/h at an altitude of 3,500 m, had a range of 1,570 km and a reach of 5,790 m. The P-1 reconnaissance version was developed from the M-1 version.
