92311 D-3801 Swiss Fighter

In 1939, a license was purchased for the production of the MS.406C-1. The first two prototypes were designated 601 and 602, changed to J-1 and J-2 in 1940. In September 1939, the Swiss company E-K-W in Thun began mass production of licensed MS.406H aircraft designated D-3800. Other companies soon joined the production. The original D-3800s were produced in two series. The first series produced 8 aircraft, the second 74. They were produced until August 1940. They had HS 12Y-31 engines with a power of 641 kW from the company Adolph Saurer AG. Read more

Description

In October 1940, the D-3801 prototype flew in Switzerland with a more powerful 790 kW HS 12Y-51 engine, different exhausts and a fixed radiator. 207 aircraft were built in 1940-1941 and the last 17 were assembled from spare parts in 1948. In 1943, the D-3800s were modernized to the D-3801. They flew in Switzerland until May 1959.
